Just wondering if anyone else has tried Milk Thistle?
I have in the past some training in naturopathy, but my GERD proved resistant to anything natural, although originally DGL did wonders. Sadly when my GERD recurred, DGL did diddly squat.
I have tried a whole heap of natural remedies - probably all the ones ever mentioned on this forum
However, for various reasons, I've recently tried Milk Thistle and found it to be of benefit. It seems to give me some relief from reflux, or relief from the sensation of reflux at least. It's not curative - if I forget to take it things are just the same. But it does seem to help. Once I discovered it helped I thought I'd take a lot more of it for maximum benefit - however, seems I already had the maximum benefit from one capsule. More doesn't give me any extra relief. But just one capsule a day seems to give me an improvement in symptoms. I still have gastritis/mid sternal pain and some of my other GERD symptoms, but the reflux symptom itself is helped by the Milk Thistle. When I take it I feel like whatever is going on is kept below the LES.
From what I've read, I think it can have a prokinetic effect, so that may be the reason it's helping me.
Anyone else taking it?
