If I stop taking them cold turkey, what can I expect? How long will those effects be around? Thanks in advance!

Nodoubtlove. You most likely will have some 'rebound'. Don't know how long you took them but this article explains it. Most docs end up having you titrate down.

You can see my thread for some feedback. I tried quitting earlier this year but had to go back, am off 2 months now but still have moderate reflux, am seeking help myself.

I was given PPI for stomach pain, stopping it caused me heartburn, and that is the issue i have now, never had heartburn before.

I stopped cold turkey after my first and second Nissen and was ok after 2 weeks however that was because the surgery worked. I stopped straight for 1.5 weeks before second surgery for testing and I honestly could not wait to restart. I drank milk to ease the burn when off ppi and this would give short term relief.

I have a colleague at work who reduced his ppi dosage from 60 mg daily to 30mg daily and then onto 30mg every 2 days and eventually zero. This took him 4 months and he had to really change his diet.
