Best anti-nausea medications

Hi, I sympathise - nausea was always my worst of the GERD symptoms. What has helped me most :-

1) 1st breakthrough was to take the ppi at 9.00 at night - this reduced the nausea by about 50 to 60% though it could still vary from barely present to 50% of initial level
2) Chewing DGL on waking has always helped me get on with the morning routine and cope with breakfast
3) More recently a course of acupuncture has really knocked the level of nausea right down - now it's range is not present (most days) to mildly annoying but largely ignorable. The odd knock back from dietary error or (last month) having to take pain meds, can kick it off again but it settles now instead of just never seeming to have a day off like in the beginning.

Do try whatever approaches you can to help it - medication or otherwise. I didn't realise how much it had affected me daily until it stopped!

Hi sammywalker,ive had constant nausea from having a nissen done and tried a lot of anti- nausea meds and natural remedies.The best ive found is a tablet called Buccastem which you place under your top lip and it dissolves that way into your system.Ive had no side effects from it either which a lot of the others ive tried do ie.drowiness being the main. Try it and see. Barry

There is a drug, Zofran, that dissolves under your tongue.  My surgeon recommended that, and wrote me a script for it when I requested one.  It's a drug that is often used for patients undergoing chemo, and is very effective.  It comes as a generic, but I don't think that one dissolves.  It's very tiny, though.

For stomach bugs, I have Compazine suppositories on hand.  You won't want to vomit or retch after your surgery, as it's hard on the wrap.  I carry both of these with me, and have had two surprise attacks of vomiting--one at the one year mark, and one at the two year mark.  Each time, I vomited once, then took the suppository and didn't vomit again.  It worked well, because I could always tell when it was time to take another one, as the nausea would reappear.

Get something to help with the nausea now, and get some drugs to have on hand, justin case.

I have used Phenergan for about 6 years now. Works the best for me.
