Barrett's esophagus

Hi all. I have had GERD for more years than I care to count. Had an upper EGD today and was just diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus. Also had a very large polyp that was removed and sent off to the lab for diagnosis. Has anyone else had an esophagael polyp diagnosed with Barrett's? I understand that esophagael polyps are rare, and even more rare with Barrett's.

Any info would be helpful.

Are taking PPIs? If you are they are known for causing polyps with long term use.

I have had Barretts for over 8 years and with my reflux surgery controlling the reflux mine hasn't advanced any. I now only have to get an EGD every 3 years vs every year.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have been taking PPIs for over 10 years now--did not know they could cause polyps.
