Dexilant-- anyone here ever taken 60 mg twice a day?

Opinions on safety/efficacy welcome! My doc suggested it, and I'm considering but reluctant to try it. Basically the 60mg seems to have stopped doing the job for me, and there is an end in sight, but 120mg is a LOT of PPi-- I'm going to have the Endostim done at the end of May. Thoughts?

I am on 80mg Omeprazole morning and night - I was put on this by my new consultant to try to supress all acid, as even on 60mg morning and night I was still getting a sour taste in my mouth.

I am not a candidate for surgery, but although I am on a massive dose- it is actually working - I am not getting the sour taste any more.

I am getting a bit of burning occasionally and I think that must be bile.

If you are having your surgery in May, then it's only for the short term so if it's going to help protect your throat, then it could be good, but you will have to wean yourself off a high dose after your surgery I would think.

I was on 60mg dexilent 2x daily, I felt worse on that much ppi so I went back to 60 mg once daily. You have to have "some" stomach acid......

I'm still hoping to get back down to 30 mg once daily.

I was on 60mg once a day of Dexilant and it totally stopped working. The doctor put me on Aciphex and it works like a dream. Maybe two Dexilant will work for you but it might make it worse. Like Doggbones said you need some acid.

I've been taking Dexilant 60 mg, 2 times a day. That helped me considerably. I have had THREE specialists and one doctor tell me to take it that way, and have for years, and just recently the FDA and my insurance decided not only to NOT finish giving me my refill (they ran out and had to order some more) but I cannot take them twice a day. My doctor shakes his head in disgust as it helps me. And, I'm trying to get an ultra sound or something that shows the stomach. Sometimes I hurt and get so sick, and cannot function. There's something in there that "blocks me up".
