toupet questions

I had a 270 wrap done six days ago and it went very well. I quit taking pain pills within two days, no pain to speak of except when breathing deep. However out of the blue this evening heartburn..like per-surgery nexium three times a day heartburn. Very discouraging as I have no problems swallowing, been eating 100% the diet plan (blenderize) that the doctored ordered. Also the soar throat and cough is back to a lesser extent...ideas?

Edit - this morning heartburn is the same as seven days back -Nexium 40 plus several doses of liquid antacid

Very discouraging, I am now on 3 X Nexium again and Sudafed for coughing due to irritation in the esophagus. I got word to the doctor and am waiting a return message. His nurse said that while not the norm in recovery, it is not abnormal for some as well. It just felt so good for those five or six days to not have any GERD. I am dialing back on any diet progression just to be careful. The plus side is I am down 8 lbs already and not hungry.

Might I add that my nerves didn't come back on-line until Week 6-7 and maybe you will be feeling unexpected things in the days and weeks to come. Like pain, or major irritation where there was none before?

I don't know how many incisions you had, or how much stitching around your esophogus, but those areas will eventually start 'talking' to you as you heal and flesh grows back together.

You might want to 'stay ahead of the pain' with whatever otc's your Dr. has okayed.

Oh, and I was told to eat for healing, not to 'diet' (which I did for two weeks post-op) so I gained back 7 pounds. Darn! Anyway, please be sure to eat enough to promote your recovery, and then you can diet later down the line.
