I just want to pop back in and give a report on how I'm doing.
I had my 270 degree wrap Nissen Fundiplication on 12/22/2009.
Things are still doing great for me reflux wise. No medication needed and can eat what I want. I haven't seen a gastroenterologist since July 2010.
I hope everyone does well on their surgery too.

Congrats on your success and thanks for sharing. For reference, how were you prior to surgery? What led to your procedure decision?

I would have heartburn all the time. My lungs were inflamed from acid reflux. Food felt like it was stopping mid-sterum and hurt terribly.
I was sick of being in misery and bit the bullet to go ahead and get the surgery.
I did research and found the best doctor for the surgery.

Thanks for the details, CouchTater. I have a similar story with the heartburn, acid reflux, lung issues, food getting stuck, etc. It's so inspiring to know that recovery is possible!

Three years ago I was terrified about
my scheduled HH repair and 360 Floppy nissen....If I had listened to all the horror stories, I was on the verge of compounding my GERD problems with unknown complications and a complete change of lifestyle and a future diet of bland foods and beverages. I was 11 days away from surgery. I used this forum and other internet sites to do as much positive research as possible and then put my faith in my Doctor, his staff and God--not necessarily in that order. I am happy to say that the operation went off without a hitch and my recovery time was short. There was no long term change in diet or lifestyle. I can eat absolutely everything without heartburn or reflux.
In addition to HealingWell there is a closed facebook group "Nissen Fundoplication" group that gave me almost real time encouragement and information.
