Hope you see this message. I have been reading and following you thread, and really wanted to see how you are doing? Hope all is great!! Please keep us posted:)

I have had my LINX for a good long while now, I have basically zero reflux which is a god send given the issues I had with it before. If I eat spicy or acidic foods I can feel the heat typically associated with reflux below where the device is, weird hot sensation, but that is easily resolved by chewing a tums or something. I have not taken a PPI in years which is good given the recent revelations regarding dementia.

There are a couple weird things I still deal with but both are no big deal. It seems since LINX if I eat a sugary food like ice cream, creme brule, or certain cakes, I get what they call "dumping" which means gurgling and sudden need to use the bathroom. Easy to remedy by just avoiding sugary foods, bad for me anyway. I also have pressure from gas that is easily resolved by taking GasX or similar, but can be annoying if I don't have any on hand. I think the "dumping" is from gas issues as well.

All in all, I am happy I no longer have reflux, no longer take PPI's, and would consider the LINX a good fit for me so far.

Only other thing that concerns me is no follow-up with the doctors that did the procedure. I would think they would scope your stomach or something every 5 years or so to make sure things are still ok. Have not heard a thing though from the doc.

Lipham at USC did mine, I had a small hernia but it was repairable so LINX would still work for me. My only concern is the lack of long term monitoring or follow-up.

Hello all, I am new here and on day 8 post-op Linx. I am finding soooooo much more info here and elsewhere on the web that I was never told - and almost all of it has been very helpful.

Anyway, I had my first MAJOR dysphagia incident yesterday ... and it really SUCKED! The only way that I was able to get relief (after fighting it for about 5 minutes) was to use a small squirt to the back of my throat of "magic mouthwash" that I was prescribed by my surgeon. It is basically a 1:1:1 ratio prescription mixture of antacid/diphen/lidocane. I am mentioning it because I have not read it mentioned anywhere else on any site and I am wondering if anyone else has ever been prescribed this. His instructions were to use 5 ml of it by straw (to avoid numbing the mouth too much) before eating to help prevent dysphasia. I hadn't really had any bad dysphagia up to this point so I hadn't taken it before a meal. In the future I think I will definitely at least use it before a restaurant meal. I have found that using a small squirt bottle to squirt it directly down my throat (bypassing the tongue and mouth) is easier than carrying a straw around with me.
