Hiatus Hernia doctor lying!!

Ok so my gastroenterologist diagnosed me with 2cm hernia but he won't do anything about and keep pushing meds. So i went to see another specialist which is a cardiothoracic surgeon. At first he saw that i have a small hernia which he doesn't seem to worry about but i'm having so much heartburn everyday and i started having LPR recently, my mouth smells like crap etc. He did a gastroscopy and a manometry test. Which he said that i didn't have any problems with my LES and stomach and he lied saying that i didn't have a hiatal hernia. I CAN LITERALLY FEEL MY STOMACH GOING UP PAST MY DIAPHRAGM. I think he's lying to avoid an operation because he thinks i didn't need it. But i just want him to be honest with me, since i was planning on having the linx surgery at the US or UK. Man it's really pissing me off right now. Now i'm wondering did he lied with the gastroscopy test and manometry? If he did, i would have to pay extra out of my pocket at another country. It's really frustrating!!!

During an endoscopy they may not be able to see much with regard to a very small hernia especially if it is moving (sliding). Have you had a barium swallow test? This would show the hernia and any reflux problems and hopefully if it is a sliding hernia would capture that also.

Re the surgery, IMHO and based upon my personal experience, surgery would be my last option.

I had a large hiatal hernia and ended up in the ER and then a week+ in the hospital a few weeks prior to my surgery so I had no choice.

But either the surgery or the hernia damaged my vagus nerve which has led to other problems including bradycardia (slow heart rate), slow HR rate response, gasperitis and other issues.

A few months ago I had another barium swallow and endoscopy (to dialate the LES) and the swallow test showed a very small recurrence - which they did not want to touch at this time; swelling and reflux. Turned out that they did not dialate as the LES was already at the max balloon size.

The surgery is very risky....if you can tolerate the issue then leave it alone, It sounds like your pushing for the surgery, the lynx or nissen is a very major surgery, I never thought I would have the issues I did today after the nissen, if you can tolerate it then leave it alone, however you do need to get a barium swallow to dectect a sliding hernia, could be a bigger issue

i agree with smlafluer, this surgery should be a last resort, [ in my opinion]. this recovery, has its own set of issues, and i dont think anyone exits clean.

Thats the problem. I can't live with the hernia, i literally smell like crap, i even stopped going outside and it hurts like hell and it's been only 1 year and it's 10x times worse than it was.

What steps have you taken to try to alleviate your symptoms? I agree with the others, surgery should be a last resort, and your hernia is very small. There really isn't any reason for your doctor to lie about your hernia, it's not his decision as to whether or not you have surgery. You are entitled to the actual results of your testing, so I doubt very much that he would lie about the manometry and gastroscopy.

Yes at first it was a small hernia and it actually was tolerable (i could drink coffee and eat with no problems) but now it's so much worse i can actually feel my LES right near my heart, it hurts when i move and it hurts when i eat, i get LPR now and heartburn and the worse of all is everyone putting their hands on their nose because i smell like crap.

And trust me the hernia is way bigger than before. I remember i did vomit 2 times and the next morning my symptoms were getting way way worse.
