Stopping Prevacid, rebound reflux?

So after about 7 weeks of being on Prevacid (I started at 15mg, went up to 30 mg and then back down to 15mg) I’ve decided to stop taking the medication. I had an endoscopy done a week ago that came back good. Since the beginning of 2019 I’ve been having digestive issues (burping up stuff after eating, cramps in stomach, occasional nausea) that haven’t really resolved so I figured I might as well go off the Prevacid.

This is day 2 for me of being off the medicine and I woke up last night feeling nauseous and like something had to come out one way or the other. So far today my stomach still feels upset and I’ve been burping up (what I believe is) acid. Is this normal after stopping a PPI? Any idea when/if that rebound symptoms will go away? I’ve been on Prevacid for extended periods of time in the past and don’t remember having any issues going off them.

I’m on the lowest dose and wasn’t on the medicine for a long period of time so I figured it would be fine to just stop. Plus I talked with my Gastro doc about stopping and she didn’t say anything about weening off it. I guess these are the types of things I would expect them to tell me naturally 🙄

I ended up calling my doc. She said I should be fine without weaning off, but said to take one, skip a day, take one, skip a day and do that for a week and then stop. So I guess we’ll see how that goes.

My stomach has been grumbling all day. :/

I had the same effect after stopping Dexilant 60 mg. I felt like there was acid flushing up my stomach. After the meal was out to bowels, I felt the stomach full again, as if it had a lot of water in it. Felt the same nausea today. Gave up and took 1 dexilant. Not even ranitidine alone is being able to help. My stomach started to uprise after my last scope. So it might be part of it. Maybe the wrong time to stop it.
