I've had LPR (with no heartburn) for about 4 years now. Even though I went to two ENT's during that period, I never knew what it was until about a month ago. The main symptom was an annoying salty/sour throat mucous. It's gotten worse the last few months, getting into my mouth. Lately my tongue has been burning and it hurts to eat certain foods or brush my teeth. I've started a diet where you have to eat small meals and all the foods have to be at pH 5 or higher. The book used for that is "The Acid Watcher Diet" by Jonathan Aviv, MD. I'm meeting with a health advocate today at the hospital to see what she recommends as far as medical procedures. Whether I have them or not, I still want to make changes to my diet, as in the book. I also have some Gaviscon Advance (from the UK, different than the Gaviscon from the US) coming, ordered on Amazon. I'll try that if the diet doesn't help as much as I'm hoping it will. Good reviews for the Gaviscon Advance. I chose the tablets rather than the liquid. The ENT I just went to never heard of it.
