Hi everyone, I am due to have the Bravo test done tomorrow and I decided to have a google to calm my nerves but after reading posts on here back in 2008 I am now debating cancelling it. I am 24 and have suffered with heartburn everyday for 4/5 years, I have had the endoscopy and an attempt at the 24 hour test however couldn't get the tube down as I have a terrible fear of choking and food being stuck. Is there anyone who has had the test that can truthfully tell me what it was like? Thanks.

I've had the bravo capsule done a few times, and I didn't have any issues. The capsule itself is very small and drops off after a few days. Don't cancel the test. Most people post negative reviews and the people that have no issues never post. Good Luck!

Thanks Sharon! That makes me feel better. I’ve just gotten home from having it placed so far only my throat hurts just off the endoscopy itself. If you don’t mind me asking what sort of things did you eat and drink when having the capsule?

I tried to stick to smother foods like yogurt, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese. Try and skip things like steak, chicken, etc., that may re a little rough. Just go with what your tolerance is, you may find that you don't need any restrictions.

Thank you I appreciate your responses! Do you happen to know what pH it needs to be at? And how long did yours take to fall off?
Thanks

The Bravo pH test reveals how often stomach contents reflux into the lower esophagus and how much acid the reflux contains. It's not just the pH level is. My capsule fell off around the 4th day, but it can be up to a week.

Thank you!! Did it feel different when it fell off? I’m onto my 6th day, the study has finished and overall it hasn’t been that bad. However, I woke up twice lastnight due to the pain of the capsule and today it is hurting more than it has over the study, is this normal?

Not really. It may be slightly irritated because it is starting to come off. Give it a couple of more days, if it doesn't improve then call your doctor's office. The worst thing that could happen would be that they have to go into to remove it.
