Trust me.... No herb can cure GERD, gastritis.... Herbs or any herbal medication increases risks of side effects. I have too many liver and kidney damage stories. With GERD, the acid irritates vagus nerve which is responsible for involuntary movement of muscles inside your body like heart, intestines etc.... and when this nerve gets irritated, you get esophageal spasms and heart palpitations including a feeling that something has grabbed your heart inside.
So work closely with your gastro to continue your treatment. GERD has many causes and it's important to get a definitive diagnosis about potential trigger/cause of your GERD symptoms. For example, I had a hernia and it had completely rendered my lower esophageal sphincter incompetent and it was not able to stop stomach acid from going up so I had to undergo nissen fundo procedure to correct the mechanical fault. And trust me it was the best decision of my life. It has given me a new life though surgery is tough and road to recovery is tougher but it was worth it for me.
