Omeprazole question

Hi there, I'm sort of new to this forum. I usually post in the IBS area. Last week I saw my doc told I had GERD. She prescribed Omeprazole. In just a few days it has really helped my symptoms. However, I have noticed that my allergy medicine is not digesting at all. I know this is gross, but I see it in the toilet when I have a bowel movement. What is this? Anyone have any ideas why this is not digesting.....is my stomach emptying before digestion is complete?

Apparently your allergy medicine requires stomach acid (omeprazole, and other PPIs, suppress acid) to dissolve the coating, since it is most effectively absorbed into the system from the stomach, and can probably work quickly that way as well.

Talk to your doctor about this -- perhaps you can pre-dissolve the allergy medicine, or switch to another type?
