In early June, after three bouts in two weeks of feeling full in the mornings and stomach upset all day, doc prescribed me prilosec and gave me a list of foods to avoid courtesy of astra zeneca (basically, everything I have been eating for the last 50 years).
Anyways, day two of 20 MGs, I developed the WORST case of GERD ever in my chest.
I then went on to more nausea, and of course, the hoarse voice (prior to major presentation for my stressed out job).
I also have health anxiety, so I thought I'd see a GI. Found the "top rated" in my town! Woo hoo.
I told him my vague symptoms and he said sternly "YOU HAVE GERD!"
He switched me and doubled my dose to 40 MGS of protonix. God bless him. On day two of taking this wonder drug, I experienced "drive me to the ER" heartburn. I thought I was going to die from this heart attack pain, so I took another pill. It solved the problem.
I NEVER HAD THIS PAIN to begin with.
After being awakened at 3 am and noticing I wasn't myself, I just quit the chemo cold turkey.
I am now either definitely sick with GERD or withdrawing from the damage to my stomach acid from the prescription pad that the docs love to use for this dangerous disease.
Thank you big pharma.
