Nasonex would only help if you are suffering from an allergy. If the sinus problems are from GERD then you need to keep the acid out of the sinuses. The thing that helped the most for me was elevating the head of my bed as high as possible. The sinuses pretty much shut down at night, so as the acid seeps up during the night, there's nothing happening to flush it out. So the sinuses can go into overdrive during the day trying to fix the damage done during the night.
Another thing that sometimes helps is flushing them out with a netti pot in the morning. This can open things up so they can drain properly and also flushes out some of the irritants.
PPI's can help too by making the acid weaker and less irritating to the sinuses.
speden, where did you read about
the sinuses shutting down at night? I wasn't aware that happened; I keep hearing that people can wake up with mucus problems because drainage continues in their sleep.
EDIT: My pharmacist just told me it would be harmful for the sinuses to stop working altogether, whether you're asleep or not. In that sense, acid would surely be flushed out to a degree at night anyway. :p
