Hi.
So basicallly I've had severe hearthburn problems for all my life, and LPR problems for the last year. I found a surgeon at the best hospital in my country who did most of the Nissens. She seemed very worried that the the wrap could become to tight, and after reading here on the forums, that seemed like a valid concern.
So I decided to go through with it, and I was finally prepared to put all this nightmare behind me. I knew something wasn't right just a few days after the surgery. When I tried stopping the PPIS I started burping like 50+ times a day, and my voice got really bad quick so I had to return on the PPIS. I've also had no troubles swallowing what so ever. Most people have trouble swallowing and can't burp, so it hardly seems normal to be able to both exactly like you did before the surgery?
Now my LPR symptoms are worse than before the surgery. I've read many places that damage to the throat can take several months to heal, so yesterday I decided to do an experiment. I didn't eat anything for the whole day, just drank water and guess what: My LPR symptoms were 80% better. For the first day in a year I could go the whole day talking without getting hoarse. I had no sore throat and the pain swallowing was almost gone. This makes me think that there are still stomach content leaking up causing damage..
I'm pretty sure my wrap is way to loose, and I'm really depressed about it. My surgeon is going to call me later this day, so I will listen to what she has to say. In the meantime, I could really need some encouragement, because I'm starting to feel really depressed.
