Hi, everyone. I'm new to both this forum and to GERD.
I've been having intense symptoms for over a week. I have been to two urgent cares and to the ER twice. They've told me that it was likely GERD, which I've never been diagnosed with before and to take prilosec otc and follow up with my PCP. I haven't seen or made an appointment with a specialist yet because I still have two days until I can see my PCP.
After being on prilosec (and occasionally famotadine) my symptoms come and go. The mass or painful lump in my chest is less frequent, I feel less heartburn, but I am still having trouble breathing and feel really dizzy fairly often. I've seen others with the same symptoms on this forum, but one symptom that is troubling me the most is painful breathing.
I have a sharp pain in the right side of my chest upon taking a deep breath. It started last night. I woke up in the middle of the night to change position and upon inhaling, I felt a sharp pain. I had difficulty breathing before I went to bed and despite the slight sleep apnea that these symptoms have been causing me, I was able to fall asleep. When I woke up again in the morning, the pain was still present and currently feels more like soreness. I still feel very dizzy just sitting down at work, but not dizzy to the point of falling over when I stand. The pain is definitely in only one spot when I breathe deep. I do have a history of asthma, and did use my inhaler which may or may not have helped. I am currently able to breathe alright, but the pain keeps me from breathing too deeply and I'm not sure if the dizziness is associated as well.
I'm not used to many of these symptoms and though I have made some changes in the past few days (changed to GERD diet, elevated pillow, etc), I was hoping to get some feed back about what I've been dealing with. Has anyone else with GERD-related difficulty breathing had any specific pain upon inhaling? What can I do to manage my difficulty breathing?
