now anxious about low heart rate ha!

okay  i switched my bp meds since my bp was higher last week and i just don't feel like it works for me.  so i switched back to atenolol on thurs.  well i just checked my heart rate and it is 57-70 the last few days.  isn't under 60 bad?  just don't get the major difference in ranges.  and it has gotten that low before during the month on my old meds too - so not sure if it is the new bp meds or just a certain time of month for me. 

i know athletes can have a very low heart rate and it's normal but i'm not an athlete. 

after i had my son, i remember calling my endocrinologist when my heartrate was in the 50s and i was major hypothyroid - he said it wasn't concerning.  normal is supposed to be 60-100 so i don't get it. 

 

Mine runs in the high 40's to 50's at times. I know I'm worked up when it's in the 70's to low 80's. If I'm cold/hungry, it dips. When I warm-up and after I eat it always rises. (makes me feel like a reptile:)!)
I read that brachycardia is only dangerous if it is causing fainting spells, or shortness of breath, especially when exercising.
Go ahead and get it cleared with your doc for sure, but don't spend anymore time worrying about it.

Aw i know how you feel. Before I was diagnosed with anxiety they put me on Atenolol for rapid heart rate. I was always checking my pulse and worrying if it was too high or too low. But after seeing a Cardiologist they said my heart was completely fine and I was just suffering from anxiety. They then prescribed me the anti-depressant Lexapro. There were major annoying side effects at first but now I feel better and dont even worry about my heart rate much anymore. Maybe you should try talking to a Cardiologist to see if theres a problem. And if youre not already on some, try to find an anti-depressant that works for you.

I had a panic attack the other day at work when I took my pulse for no particular reason and it was 52. now granted, i was just sitting there for ten minutes but even still! I got nervous and got up and started walking around, took it again ten minutes later and it was only 64. drove me nuts. then I thought to myself, 'well if im panicked wouldnt my pulse go up to atleast 70 or 80?" nope. didnt budge all night. I panicked so much I asked around and everyone said to me 'thats great!' I didnt think so! I had always heard that a resting heart rate for someone who is athletic can go down to 50 because their heart muscle is so strong. I dont exercise... Im not a couch potato, but im dont exactly work out either. Im on lisinopril 5mgs. nothing major. at any rate, low b/p worries the heck out of me too...

its almost as if i find it too hard to believe that i could be healthy.
