Hi Merrida,I am so proud of you for making the appointment and Friday will be here before you know it.
Therapists can truly help. They provide an objective view of one's past. They can offer valuable suggestions on how to cope with present problems. Their awareness of a whole range of abnormal behavior allows them to help one to adjust to different situations in life.
I recognize in the words you posted that this is a beacon of hope for you as you want to deal with your "problem's re your Mother". I know this will be tough but also cleansing as you recognize your feelings are normal but accepting that your Mother was just not equipped to be a good Mother.
A daughter’s need for her mother’s love is primal and a driving force, and that need isn’t diminished by its unavailability. That need coexists with the terrible and damaging understanding that the one person who is supposed to love you without condition doesn’t. The struggle to heal and cope is a mighty one.
Consciousness is the first step in an unloved daughter’s healing. I will be praying that your first session gets you on the path to healing.
Love,
Kitt
