thought i'd start a bit of a thread.

aussie slang.

bugger off-go away. truckie-truck driver. grog-alcohol.

race-horse-thinly rolled ciggarettes. (common is correctional settings)

pig-dirty cop on the take or one who is brutal. larikan-funny person.

excuse the french.think it is ok. piss head-someone who drinks way too much grog!!!

Here is some South African slang for you all: Chommie - friend, goof - to swim, kiff -great, goose - young woman, pozzy - home, braai - barbeque, tackies - sneakers, zol - homemade cigarette, biltong - jerky, heita - hello. Thanks for this thread and for all the laughs HT!

From the southern USA:
Y'all = You all or all of you.
Southerners sometimes run words together (I am guilty!!) and leave out some consonants...if you've ever listened to Jeff Foxworthy, you will know what I mean. He uses one as an excellent example! (LOL!!!) Use "Aorta" in a sentence. Then he says: AORTA cut the grass down athe park before someone gets bit by a snake! AORTA is "They ought to"! And I'm afraid I sound like that somewhat! :O

Pig is definitely slang for a cop here too. My husband is one so I've heard it a lot lol! Love this thread.

good stuff guys. i'm loving it. charmy, south african slang is pretty happening.

'crack open a cold one guys and have a ripper day'. now that's classic aussie slang.

'smile like a crocodile'.

Michigan slang:
You guys-equivalent to the southern y'all. Plural of "you".
Pop-Soda, as most people in other parts call it.
Fudgies-out of state summer vacationers that visit Michigans northern parts.

In California if we see a cop we say, "I smell BACON"

Bea= Babe or baby ( partner nickname)

Boo= pet name for partner

Naw= No

crikey, stunned, like wow, or oh expletive. thought i'd bring it back up for a bit. hope that is cool.

we use it too. and sick. like fully sick mate. mainly the young crowd. i like 'bonus'. someone will tell me some cool news i will go, bonus. a good deal, 2 for 1. new job, lottery win, bonus!!!
