Slower Heart Rate while taking Zoloft

Good Morning,

I've just got a quick question for anyone willing to answer.

I started taking Zoloft on the 20th of May, took 25mg for 6 days, then switched to 50mg, for only three days as I was having terrible nightmares and nocturnal panic attacks, insomnia, and such. I started back on the 25mg yesterday per my dr. since taking the 50mg, I've noticed a drop in my heart rate. Mind you, I never started taking my heart rate til AFTER I started having my health "problems", so, i'm not sure what my resting was BEFORE all of this. it's been 74-88 ( before 50mg Zoloft ) and is now 54-70 TOPS, i'm not sure If this is the Zoloft, I've googled it, but haven't really found much. and seeing as how this forum has helped me more than anyone knows, I figured this would be the best place to ask! it hasn't dropped under 50, so im not so much terribly worried, just curious if anyone knows if this is normal. i'm 5'5. 309lbs, so yes i'd assume my heart would need to pump faster seeing as i'm big. but like I said, I never took my HR before my anxiety and such started happening so im not sure what resting was before all this.

I came across it just now being listed as a rare side effect too, i'll keep an eye on mine, I've got to call my dr in 2 weeks to let them know how im doing, so ill definitely mention it!

My mom's is normally 54 or so, so definitely know for some people it's normal and what not. I will mention it when I call.

I have heard of a few cases were an AD can lower your heart rate but it is a rare side effect and not one to worry much about but do speak with your doctor just to be sure.

The average heart rate is anywhere between 60 -80 beats per minute.

Anxiety is known to increase your heart rate significantly as your body is realising adrenalin into your body. It could be that the Zoloft is starting to work on your anxiety which in turn is brining your heart rate back down to the average levels.

I have some problems too with Zoloft , the dreams that I have since starting Zoloft are very vivid and so real it's almost exhausting to wake up in the morning because I feel like I was up all night doing stuff , also I get pressure headsaches I've never suffered from head aches before .
But then I have to weigh the positive against the negative and the fact that the Zoloft Is helping my anxiety some , that outweighs the side effects and it's not worth me switching the meds because of this .

Hey there! I had this sorry of reaction as well. My heart rate was plummeting into the 40s and I ended up in the emergency room. They even referred me to a cardiologist, because the said zoloft shouldn't do this to me. I'm scared! How long did it take for your heart rate to return to normal after stopping zoloft?
