Living with anxiety and depression

I'm sorry that you are going through all of this right now. I know how hard it can be (I too am in the middle of a med re-start for anxiety/depression). From everything I've learned about these ssri medications, it sounds to me like you are experiencing some start-up side effects of the Celexa. These medications are trying to re-wire our brains so to speak, and in that process, sometimes our anxiety gets worse and we feel like we are going crazy before we get better.

You are not alone in this...in the last couple of days I've had a few "breakdowns" with panic, horrible thoughts, and crying spells. However, I think it's reassuring to be afraid of the negative thoughts...that proves that we wouldn't act upon or do what our thoughts are telling us. These are just thoughts...not reality...we are in control of what we do. I know it's easier to say than to believe, but you have to try to rationalize your thoughts and fears...this will help you to dispel them. Also, I find that staying busy and distracting my mind helps keep the scary thoughts away...don't dwell on them...that only makes the thoughts stronger.

If your symptoms become too much to handle, please contact your doctor; don't simply stop either medication without your doctor's approval!

This will get better, but the medication takes time to work (several weeks). You are strong and you will get through this...we all will!!

Thank you I really needed to read your comments of course is easier to say it cause what is happening to me in this moment is not easy at all I try to stay focus and concentrate in good positive stuff my family my kids I don't want them to see me like this. I will stick with my meds like my doctor prescribed I hope this is work I don't want to live like this sometimes I just want to give up. I can't even get out of my house for days I don't want to be around people this is too much I used to be happy. I don't want people to think I am going crazy and they will not want to be around me . How are you doing today? Something I don't understand is why doctors don't tell us that going on an antidepressant can sometimes be horrible for the first while. Sometimes weeks, sometimes longer. I know several people, including myself, that have gone through intense anxiety at first. My sister included. I told her just to give it a chance, and finally she is feeling good. Do give the medication a chance, but discuss with your doctor the side effects that you are going through. It will get better! Be strong.
