Our Moderator's quote is a great one: "Worry doesn't take the [trouble?] out of tomorrow; it takes the strength out of today." So, along those lines, here's another way to think about
it:
Worry is misplaced imagination. If you're going to imagine the future, your rational mind will helpfully & automatically conjure up the WORST-case scenario; RM is good at that. Just watch it go by . . . (yup, there goes another worry thought) . . . then settle down and replace it with your own very BEST-case scenario. Just like chicken soup, it can't hurt.
And the very real probability is, the more you do that, the more your RM is likely to think, "Aw, never mind. S/he's just gonna knock me off that mind screen anyway. Why bother?" And leave you alone, for a change.

I'd like to add something here. I talked with one of my MS doctors last night. This woman is great. She is my age and has MS herself. She totally understands the nervous system. We talked about
the endless anxiety problems.
What she told me was amazing. She said that our nervous systems are inherited! That blew me away. My mother was always a nervous type. Now some of my kids are having the same kinds of problems... insomnia, anxiety, worry etc.
If you need pills or meds to help you sleep.. it's because your body NEEDS help. Some things you just can't help but you can treat them.

O.,
Good point!
My husband doesn't understand my struggle...yet he has type 1 diabetes.
I gently remimd him...'Hey, my brain...your pancreas!'
A mental issue IS a physical issue...it's all in the same body. ;)
I am glad you found a good doctor that you like...this is such a blessing.
Best of health to you friend...body and mind!
S.C.
