Well of course caffeine is a stimulant, and would therefore increase anxiety. I can drink coffee in the morning as long as I have eaten, and don't exceed my normal amount...
...but if my blood sugar is low, or if I have a strong brewed cup in the afternoon, it can make me really shaky and ill feeling.
Also, this could be GERD related. If you are eating/drinking a trigger food, the symptoms can be similar to, or exacerbate anxiety.
Just some thoughts...
