Hi all. Since my setback I have been taking .25 of Xanax once a day. So about three weeks total. Than I saw it is addictive and I should stop. I am freaking out now that I am going to have withdrawal. Help. Advice

Talk to your doctor; the one who prescribed the drug.

while it is addictive I feel you should be allright if only 3 weeks use. my advice is stop daily use and use it ONLY in a crisis. there is also Xanax xr which is longer acting so you use less in a day. also valium and klonopin are also much longer acting and eaiser to get off of .

GMF,

Your dose is low, and you have only been back on your Rx for a short time. Add to this the fact that you are aware and concerned about a possible issue with continued daily use, and all this points to the fact that you do not at all fit the profile of someone who is going to have any trouble discontinuing your Xanax.

As S20D said, using your Rx as a rescue med (pro re nata/as needed) is still alright...

...so seek to reduce to taking your pill only every other day for a week, then you can step off comfortably...I am sure of it. smile

hi,
i've been on xanxax for 3 years, .10 mgs a day as needed. if you have an additive personality or treate it can become addictive. i have never had an issue with it being addictive.but also remember any medication can become addictive. take pills as prescribed but if you feel you are becoming addictive then please talk to your doctor.
