Hi Yall! I know there was another thread on here about this but couldnt find it. Anyways any ideas on how to deal with nightime/bedtime anxiety? Dealing with it as I type. Ive had anxiety attacks on and off for the past 8 years. Before it was a daytime thing say around 10am-12pm. Past year or so its happening only at bedtime for me. It totally stopped during the day when im active. Comes on really hard at bedtime when I lay down. Thank yall for reading and all the help is greatly appreciated! I hope all is well!

Good morning Bert! Nighttime anxiety used to plague me also. All the worries of a lifetime, the weight of all of the injustices in the world, what will tomorrow bring? etc... Some things that helped me is positive affirmations mantras (seriously!) Something like,' I am calm, All is well, I am blessed.' said in the mind, repeatedly. Instead of a security blanket, I'd repeat these sort of mantras while holding a protective crystal in my hand until falling asleep. Realize this sounds corny but along with ashwaganda taken 1 hour before bed , I now sleep much better and the recurrent nightmares have stopped. You can take control of your mind. I stay away from the internet, news, crime shows, etc before bedtime, too! If there are specific issues that keep you anxious, you can take steps to correct them in the daytime. There was a lovely 6 hour youtube music video of Gregorian monks chanting with rain BUT they removed it! Sure there's similar calming music available. You can beat this with your own mental healing powers. This too shall pass. Have a blessed day...and night.

I had anxiety attacks for some years and in both cases they were caused by the medicine I was taking.

The first medicine was an anti-psychotic, Stelazine. I'm not sure it was the right medicine, obviously not, for it started giving me anxiety attacks the first or second night I took it and the psychiatrist kept me on it for a long time. I was bipolar, but don't know if I was diagnosed as that.

The 2nd time, I was treated for depression only, and was really bipolar, so without a stabilizer like Lithium, which I'm on now, the anti-depressant pushed me into mania and anxiety attacks. And those would occur, like yours, the moment I went to sleep.

When I was put on Lithium and an anti-depressant, the anxiety attacks stopped, and that was many years ago.

I repeat a mantra before going to sleep also. Mine is different. It is a meaningless word that I repeat over and over as I breathe. I am usually able to fall asleep this way, though lately I think too much. But repeating the mantra clears our minds of all the stuff going on around us.

I also find if I play video games or go on the internet, I have more trouble going to sleep. I think it is good to wind down before bedtime.

I hope your anxiety subsides.

Practice breathing exercises, they really help.

Sometimes when I know that I have an active day ahead of me I get worried that I won't sleep well and that I'll be worn out the next day because of it. As a result, I sometimes don't sleep well because I'm worried about it.

But in general I sleep very well thanks to the Clozaril I'm on.

Good evening! Thank yall for the replies!! All are very helpful and I really appreciate it! Last night was better I slept very well. So far tonite Im not super anxious but Im kind of on the edge. Im going to try the mantra route! Thank you all again and best wishes!!

I get anixety worse at night time. Its not even because I am thinking about something particular I just get it. I feel this pit in my stomach and just panic... Not always or frequently but I use to get this almost every single night. Thanks to zoloft/sertraline (SSRI) I can manage very well now. No side effects for me.

Night anxiety is real! I use cbd under my tongue and it helps...
