I’m back!

Hello healing well family,

After some time off I am back, i am truly thankful to have found this page years ago.

Last time I was on here was last year around sep, I had restarted lexapro and weaned off in March which was probably not the best idea as that is when Covid got pretty serious.

I am now going to restart lexapro, the whole covid, working from home and having my kids full time and marital issues has def gave me anxiety and low moods.

Although I have been on lexapro several times throughout the years I have always used brand name. This time I will use generic as brand is so pricy! I don’t know why but I am so scared to try generic. I just hope it works the same for me as the brand name.

Trying to ignore the negative feelings and remain positive.

Yeah I agree with Hibee, it shouldn't be a problem with generic, as the ingredients are the same.

I used Sertraline in both brand and generic and I had same worries but I never felt any difference. I asked the pharmacist once if there is a difference, they said no it's just some difference in binding compounds but he said I wouldn't feel any difference.

I have noticed differences in different generic brands. Also from brand name to generic. I think it depends on the medication and the individual's chemical make up.

They try to tell you that it is the same but the actual medication can vary certain amounts of milligrams.

Welcome back...

I took Lexapro generic and it seemed to work quickly for me, though my therapist says that isn't possible. I disagree. Some meds work fast for me. I am sensitive to antidepressants. My problem with SSRI's is that I do well for two to three months. Then I get side effects that do not go away. Where most people get the side effects in the beginning and they go away in 7-10 days. And the Lexapro did that to me. But I sure did feel better while taking it. Mentally.

I don't seem to get the morning anxiety unless I have something to do or somewhere to go. I think I have anticipatory anxiety. Before I have to go somewhere I get bad. Sometimes I take Xanax and it helps. After I get in the car and out on the road, I am usually (not always) okay. I hate the feeling. And for me it is hard to explain. It is both mental and physical.

I hope that the Lexapro works for you and quickly. I hope it lessens the anxiety for you. Do you ever try meditation? Morning meditation is nice. Especially early.

I guess that there are good meditation videos on you tube. I learned from a little booklet I found at the grocery store years ago. Basically relaxing all the muscles in the body helps. From head to toe. I also have a mantra that I use. Feel free to email me and I will give you some tips. But there are so many different ways now. Mine are probably obsolete.

I think it will work for you well. Let us know when you try it again. Keep us posted.
