Anyone experience Buspirone for GAD wearing off too soon?

I've been taking 7.5mg Buspirone 4x daily (every 6 hours) for several months. This worked ok for a while, but seemed to wear off an hour or more before the next dose. So it sometimes felt like a rollercoaster effect between doses. Anxiety has increased recently so I am thinking of trying 15mg 2x daily (12 hours apart). Anyone found a dosing schedule on Buspirone that provides consistent relief? Thanks so much.

sounds like its effectiveness has worn off and either stop its use and or switch to something else . i got good relief from buspar but used it sparingly and never took it constantly . just as needed which is not as directed but it worked well for me this way. i now take a very low dose ssri and get COMPLETE anxiety relief. for 3 years now. you cantry the 15mg every 12 hr and see how that goes . 15mg at once was too strong for me but may work for you. stay away from benzos! except for emergency use. its a very slippery slope

I think it is the case with most medication that you need to increase the dosage once you’ve been on it for a while.

Speak with your doctor and see what they suggest.

buspar can be a tricky med to get the dose right.

Dan what ssri do you take?

I was on Zoloft but am tapering off slowly now.

Thought about trying buspar but my doc said his experience is that doesn’t help most of his patients.

You may have room to increase it. Talk to your doc. I didn’t find that it completely helped on its own.

i am taking celexa at 10 mg. far better than zoloft or prozac i was on before=for me at least
