hormonal anxiety

I, too, suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). My Dr. has told me that Thyroid dysfunction can lead to hormonal imbalances AND anxiety. Two of my sisters have Hashimoto's disease (an autoimmune disorder that results in low thyroid) and my mother also had low thyroid levels. My thyroid have always been in the low range but not abnormal. I take 5 mg of Lexapro for anxiety, recently started using a PEMF mat and do 15-20 minutes of yoga daily. I am sleeping SO much better and feeling much calmer. If your citalopram is not working, make sure you talk to your Dr. and let him/her know. Sometimes it takes a combination of medical and wholistic approaches to treat GAD. Good Luck!
