Because mine is missing at the moment.

I am recently quite scared of the inside of my left cheek since I have been biting the skin off for a long while now and sort of not letting it heal. It doesn't bleed or anything it's just, you know, peeled layered cheek like mountain area on a map (??? Lol) and shedding off skin by itself afterwards. It's not a soft surface as my other cheek.

A week ago I saw those red blood dots and bashed in the dentists place without any appt. And asked them to take a look, now I try to calm myself thinking even though he only looked at that red dot thing for a couple of moment, he wouldn't miss the huge peeled area if it was something to be suspected? When I panic I can't think we'll :( my perfectly working logic just locks herself in the closet and never comes out.
I am scared of developing mouth C because of constantly irritating my inner cheek :(

HA is the worst... I can hardly wait to start my therapy to get rid of it. Living like this is hell.

So is this just a nervous habit? You are referring to the inside of your mouth? I have heard that the mouth heals quickly, I have unintentionally bit the side of my mouth and it did seem to heal quick. Maybe you are not giving it time to heal.

I know people have different nervous habits, some bite their nails, I knew someone that would pull their hair out, some pick their face, etc. Do you believe this is just a nervous habit?

Yeah it is a nervous habit. Lately I am trying not to irritate that area further. I am basically slightly biting inside of my cheek and peeling the skin there, it's not like I bite strongly and cause a painful sore there.
I sometimes bite it accidentally when eating and so but I know what it is and it usually heals in a couple of days.

Since I heard messing with your mouth constantly "may" cause it into a C. type of texture in mouth, I am freaked out because I have been doing it.
Though, as you said, I didn't give it much time to heal. Now the skin is peeing excessively even though I am not biting it now.

Give it a week without any further biting, it should be all good then.. :) If two weeks go by without any biting and it's still peeling, maybe see a doc about it. You are ok though, I do the same thing. I let my mind trick me into thinking that maybe the doctor was wrong, or maybe they didn't look well enough. That's one of the downfalls of health anxiety. :(

Yeah exactly I agree TMA, it's so wrong to think that doctors are wrong. But I can't help but think that the doctor didn't pay enough attention to it because he just took a look at it.
Well, that's the mind of a hypochondriac.

Lol, I am in the same boat though. My cardiologist thought my echocardiogram was going to be a "breeze" and so in my mind I feel like he didn't really give it the devoted attention that it needed. He came back in shortly after and told me "Congratulations, you're the owner of a completely healthy heart." I thought it was great that day, but then the doubts slowly creep in after...

But, I believe that your dentist would have known if something would have been wrong, or looked off, because he would have been like "ahhhhhhhhh, that's not right." Just try to keep in mind that they are highly trained individuals and that they could easily know if something was off with our health, at least I hope! LOL!!

Did you have this looked at before?

The best thing you can do is to not bite your cheek. I know it's a nervous habit. We all have them. Well many of us do at least! ;)

Believe it or not, you could try putting a rubber band around your wrist and when you catch yourself biting your cheek, snap that rubber band! Because you keep biting it, it's not getting a chance to heal. But yes, I think I read also that the mouth heals pretty quickly. But you have to give it a chance to do so...

Merrida - I didn't have it checked, but as I said a week ago a dentist saw that area for something else. I didn't especially see dentist since I developed this habit, which is around a few months, like 7-8.

I have a couple of spots that I repeatedly bite on accident. (I chew too fast I guess!)

They can swell up and remain that way for awhile...I also notice that I tend to re-bite them because they are protruding.

I have never heard of this leading to mouth cancers...

Just give it some time to heal. You could do a mouth rinse with a very light saline rinse to promote healing. Mix 1 tsp of salt to one cup of warm water. Swish around for a few seconds, rinse and spit.:)

The salt water rinses are amazing! They are not palliative in nature in the least, but they really do relieve the discomfort. I believe it's an osmosis type thing or something.

When I got my new dentures (which are awesome in every way), well in-between the adjustments, I'd occasionally get sores on my cheeks and gums. Wow, I can't tell you how amazing those warm salt water rinses are. They relieve pain, and pretty quickly too!

One trick is to do several rinses in a row but try to make each rinse firm (use a lot of swishing) and try to make each rinse last about 60 seconds. It makes a big difference than a few quick swishes here and there.

Have you tried chewing gum? It will calm your nervous and relieve anxiety. It really does help. I have stopped biting my nails and lips.

Good advice Melodee thank you, I have to give it a try or else I won't have any cheek to bite soon :P
I am wondering if rinsing the mouth with baking soda water is the same as salt water?
