Strange how we can be so different and still be the same in so many ways, when I was a young man before
i entered the military i thought the exact same thing you did, my ribs on the right side would have a dull ache and my back would hurt also, I went to my Grand Parents Doctor and didnt tell anyone after a good examination he told me not to worry i was much too young to get lung cancer this was in 1958, he was right it was intercostal muscle pain, the muscle between my ribs.
Just one word of caution about the weed, it does effect people different, in my case it made me very violent and prone to do things i would not normally do, even worse than drinking, so be your own judge, Peace
