I’m freaking out . My one year old has had the flu and rsv in the last week and I’ve been doing everything I can to avoid getting it . My hands are raw from washing them so much. Well its been a week since he started symptoms but tonight I took a bite from his plate WITH his spoon without thinking cuz he’s like 10x better than he has been. Now I’m freaking out that I’m gonna get the dang flu 😩

I am so sorry to hear that your son has not been well...poor little guy.😐

The flu virus is usually airborne, so if you've been caring for him...and haven't come down with it yet...the chances of you getting it from eating after him are not really high.

The advantage you have is that if you do start to show symptoms...you can immediately call your doctor and ask for an Rx of Oseltamivir/Tamiflu...which is amazing at reducing the severity/length of illness.

Use your positive mantras to help keep you calm...and keep your focus off of your worries.

I definitely understand your fear but I had it the week of thanksgiving and I knew no one with it. I must have picked up running errands. My sisters 2 kids have it now and her oldest doesn’t. It just happens and there isn’t much you can do to prevent it. The good thing is that if you happened to get it, it’s manageable. Meaning you could go to the doctor right away get tested and even get tamiflu now (since your child has it). I know it can be fearful but you’re going to be ok no matter what the outcome is!! Stay strong, you got this!

I, too, am terrified of the flu, but of my kids getting it rather than me.

My youngest was hospitalized 2 years ago in the PICU for RSV and pneumonia and we've been treating her with mild asthma ever since. I'm so scared of her getting it and not tolerating it like most can. She's 3 and hasn't been hospitalized since but it still really scares me.
