Blood pressure medications and anxiety/panic attacks

I was recently put on 50 mg of meta-propyl and 25 mg of the LosartAn. I was OK the first couple of days but now I am getting niece horrific anxiety/panic attacks and I'm wondering if they could be due to this new medication. The doctor told me that Toprol can sometimes increase your depression which of course I also suffer from. And I'm also wondering if anyone has had success with natural remedies for lowering blood pressure. you should know that I have suffered with anxiety and panic attacks on and off all during my life but I haven't had any this bad until I started taking this medication. I have a lot of other stresses in my life that could be causing this but it just seems different this time and it's worrying me. I seem to be very susceptible to the power of suggestion to so I'm not sure if I'm doing this to myself or whether it's really the meds. Any feedback you could give me would be greatly appreciate

Andwes, are you sure you understood your dr correctly about Metoloprol having a possible side effect of depression? I looked up the potential side effects at Drugs.com & did not find depression listed. I don't think either of these meds will ramp things up. Keep in mind all medications come with possible side effects, but that does not mean it will happen to you. I am on both of these meds for high BP, along with a 3rd one. With your dr prescribing 2 BP meds, you really need to take them, high BP is nothing to mess around with. I would give them 2 weeks to adjust. Perhaps your anxiety is kicked up a little because of being started on the meds.

Remember the goal is to get your BP numbers down. Take care.

What was your BP at that led you to being prescribed the medication? Really odd that those medications would increase your anxiety. Probably worth taking a BP reading now that you are on these and compare to what you had before.

I have heard that beta blockers should have the opposite effect actually...

...so I am wondering if this is psychosomatic, or coincidental...or if maybe you are feeling lightheaded (common start up effect with a BP Rx) and this is triggering your anxiety?

Talk over your concerns with your doctor of course...but I bet given some time, this will pass.❤
