I used to be a very nervous person. But since then, I've become much more calm.
However, when something does makes me nervous for a few minutes these days, it can occasionally get on my nerves. I'm sure it can with you as well, especially if you currently have serious anxiety issues like I used to.
But nowadays, when something makes me anxious for a short time, I often succeed at not having it get on my nerves.
For example, a few days ago, I was driving my car when I heard an odd noise. I was afraid that something might be wrong with my vehicle. And I hate to have to spend money getting a problem with my car fixed by my mechanic. I'm not a rich person, after all.
It turned out that the noise was merely coming from funky pavement on the road that I was driving on that had been patched up fairly recently. No big deal. Nothing I have to worry about.
I could have told myself, "Man, I wish that noise didn't scare me and cause my anxiety for a few minutes!"
Instead, I told myself, "I'm just glad it turned out to be nothing."
So if something makes you nervous and it turns out to be nothing, you can either tell yourself, "I wish that hadn't happened!" Or you can tell yourself, "I'm just glad it turned out to be nothing."
I suggest going with the latter.
