She could be right, or you could have a legitimate concern. That's the choice you make, that's the chance you take.
I've been there. And I've gotten slaughtered. Both were 28 and were psychiatrists. By one week.
The first one, I went in as depressed. He didn't say a word the entire 50 minutes. He put me on an anti-depressant. Wrong. I found out 2 or 3 years later from a lay counselor who knew my uncle and said, "He was bipolar and you probably are to." Why couldn't my original psy. have asked during that 50 minutes session, questions about possible mania? Such as, do you have a racing mind? Because, psy. don't talk.
Since I was really manic-depressed, the anti-depressant alone, with no cap like Lithium, threw me into mania, then into panic attacks and visits to the ER. When I saw the psy. for my next visits and told him that, he would say "Well, what were you doing that threw you into a panic attack?" I told you he was 28, didn't I? Yeah, he was 28.
The lay counselor was 50.
OK, second 28-year-old psychiatrist. Switched to a woman this time. Didn't work. She was still 28. She didn't have anybody on duty for the weekend if something went wrong. And changed my medicine on my first visit on a Friday. Do I have to go through the rest of it?
If you want to change doctors, one possibility is to go to the net for "psychiatrists in your home town." Look at the list and see if you can find one with more experience.
Another possibility, is to look on the net for "Women's health center" such as connected with a hospital or something else. Call one and tell them you're a nervous wreck, that will help. Ask them if they have a psy. or 2 they can recommend. Call 2 or 3 of those such groups and see if they can help.
