I've been having trouble walking lately. I can make it to the mailbox but the thought of walking around the block like I use to is too much for me. For 3 or 4 weeks, I'll say.
I realize my thighs are already tired before I even think about walking halfway or less around the block.
Realizing this, this morning before I got out of bed, I decided to put a heating pad on my thighs, and down to my calves and feet. I did that on both legs for about 20 minutes total.
I noticed walking around the house, my legs felt better, stronger, not worn out as usual.
Went to get the mail today, and I saw some trash 200 feet down the street. Was able to get down there to it, then saw some more trash 200 more feet down the road. Ended up walking most of the way down the street, something not possible yesterday and for several months before that.
I know it was that heating pad on my thighs which had a worn out feeling just from walking around the house. The heat widens the blood vessels and increases blood flow and brings nutrients and oxygen to the injured area.
A frozen gel pack reduces inflammation such as at the lower back. I have ear problems and even put that on my ears for about 30 seconds each and it helps.
Also, I plan to fill up a plastic tub with warm water and soak my feet. I don't even have to take a full bath which I can't do anyway because I use a chair. I can just soak my feet.
Taking care of our extremities like that can have benefits.
